15th century doublet in brocade

 An essential item in every medieval man's wardrobe - and this one is a showstopper, made for one of our books and used once for a photoshoot.

 This model, with  padded upper sleeve (Gippon à mahoitres' style), provided the fashionable silhouette in the second half of the 15th century - wide shoulders and narrow waist.

 The fabirc is a very rare and expensive metallic silk brocade from Sudbury silk mills. This usually retails at £120-£230 per metre, I got lucky to get some as a bargain!

 Features:

* superb fabric

* lined throughout with silk, interlined

*shoulder padding filled with light wool filling, no polyester!

*handfinish -  the lining is set by hand,

* the eyelets are worked by hand with waxwd linen thread

*handmade points in silk  included.

Measurements

The doublet closes ( though can be worn open too) at the chest 45"(115cm), waist 38" (97cm), back width ( between the shoulder blades) 17,5" (44cm). 

Sleeve length 26" (66cm)cm, elbow 15" (38cm) 

Here shown on a  model size 45 chest,  - a pretty good fit
