I have devised this one for myself, for horse riding, as due to costochonditis I was unable to wear sports bra for a longer periods of time. Bras were not an option - ut my usual riding corset worked great and I was able to spent hours in the saddle without any discomfort.
The riding waistcoats are a hybrid: a traditional waistocoat with a riding corset combined to provide female riders with a comfortable wear. The waistocoat does give a nice smooth silhouette, but does not constrict the waist as much as traditional corsets - just enough to support the garment and the wearer. The tight fit and boning as well as higher front keeps the 'assets' in check, provide gentle back support and shaping.
The product is still in developmnet as I am tweaking the pattern and playing with a variety of techniques but since the demand after the first fun video ( you can see it here) was so big, we decided to get a few more experimental models made - they will cost less that the target product, but in the meantime we will be collecting feedback from the wearers :-)
*2 layer construction for front with hunting /showing specific high quality tattersall wool, with cotton drill as strenght layer; strong corsetry cotton broche used for the back
* boned with a mixture of artificial whalebone and steel boning ( spring steels at the sides to provide more comfort and movement range)
* strong corsetrey zip up the front, and a full length lacing at the back allows for regulation
* zip is hidden by an overlaping flat that buttons up, waistcoat style
* elastic inserts at the hip, armpit and shoulder provide more freedom of movement
* bound in cotton binding - easy to replace when worn.
* waist stay for strength and support ( new! )
*bones are flossed with strong thread to prevent poking out ( new!)
The waistocat will be made to measurements supplied by the client
Please be aware that in order to support things well, this garment needs to be tight - and your boobs will be flattened out. That doesn't mean however that it should be uncomfortable - if you experience any pain or discomfort during your first wear, it it a sign the waistcoat does not fit correctly.
I recommend the waistcoat to be worn a few times - like most corsets, it needs to adjust to your body and settle :-) you may find that after a few outings you will be able to lace it a bit tighter:-)
The are best worn with soft cotton bralettes/ bras, on top of a shirt.
Please bear in mind, they are not medical items for figure correction etc - not only wearing a badly fitted corset can cause harm if you have an existing condition, but also, our corsets are not made for a day in and out use. Sturdy, yes, as much as a regular clothing, but medical corsets designed for constant use are made from very different materials that can take the strain of a daily use.
Bespoke orders are accepted as well, please be aware that you will be required to attend 1-2 fittings and that the price will be much higher that the off the peg items. We are usually booked up at least 6 months in advice, so there may be some wait too!
