An elegant ball gown from the first bustle period.
This is a gown i made for a friend and am selling on her behalf.
It was worn once for a ball and once for a shoot, so in a good condition.
* made in high quality striped silk organza ( imported from Renaissance Fabrics, no longer available) The fabric is amazing - very light and semi transparent. Decorated with silver metallic lace. Lining in cotton lawn. Complete cost of materials used - £250
The outfit consists of :
* A trained skirt with overskirt. The skirt has a detachable and washable balayeuse in white cotton lace ( needs washing). The skirts are decorated with pleated ruffles and lace.
* a fitted evening bodice with short sleeves. The bodice is boned and the seam allowances are overlocked. The bodice closed with hooks and eyelets under decorative buttons.
To achieve the typical silhouette, the ensemble should be worn over a corset, a bustle cage (or for a bit earlier look, a crinolette -see the last image. The original owner has a crinolette for sale too, and at least one petticoat - they could be purchased directly from the owner once the gown is sold.
bodice . Completely closes at :
waist: 34" .
armpit to waist - 7"
would prpbably look best on a corseted size 16
Skirts: waistband close with a button at 33" front length 41"
Both models are short, just over 5ft.
* Accessories not included
