1830s Romantic weekend

Curl your hair and puff-up your sleeves, Romantic era fashion is coming to Moggerhanger Park - again!

 This is a small semi-private event with a STRICT dress code and on an Invitation/ Application basis only. 

COVID - hopefully a thing of the past by that time, if not Covid passports will apply to keep all of us and the stuff safe. any changes will be announced on the FB group here.

 Adults only, please.

 As long as you have correct apparel  (any social strata - up to you!), all genders, creeds, ethnicities, nationalities, sexualities and body shapes welcome. You don't need any previous dance experience either.

 If you would like to attend, please email me at [email protected] with a brief introduction and a few pictures showing your attire (it is understood that you may need to make/purchase stuff for the ball and don't have any 30s stuff yet - that is not a problem, a photo of Regency or Victorian fashion will do, on understanding that your Romantic stuff will be of the same quality)

 The tickets are sold per room, based on 2 sharing!

 Included in the price:

*2 night accommodation, in double and twin rooms. 

Superior rooms are simply more spacious than the standard doubles.

There is 1 single room available ( not ensuite, bathroom in the corridor)

* The Saturday soiree ticket

 * Dance workshop with Stuart Marsden in the afternoon

 * Buffet

* Full breakfast in the morning

 Dances will be called by Stuart Marsden. 

Please bear in mind that on saturday it is not a ball, but a soiree - the room is simply not big enough to host more than 30-35 dancers. so it is not a problem at all if you need to sit a dance or two out - indeed, you don't need to dance any if you prefer to lounge in the library instead!

 Details:

 Venue:

 Moggernhanger Park – Grade I listed Georgian building. Located in farmland with nice woodland walks and a tea house serving light lunch nearby.

 We will have several rooms at our disposal – The Gold ballroom for dancing, 2 rooms for buffet, etc, as well as the Library for a quiet place to rest and gossip. There is a reception for photos and also a bar.

  Accommodation:

 The rooms are located on the first and second floors of the main house and in an adjacent building (ground floor). There are double/ twin bedrooms, all individually styled, en suite.  They are not huge, but sufficient. The lift only reaches the first floor, if you would prefer a groudfloor room in the adjacent building, please let me know.

 Superior rooms are bigger and more elaborately styled, and  are priced accordingly.

The price is based on 2 sharing 

 If you are sharing with a friend, please arrange with them in advance and provide me with the guest names after purchase.

 Rooms available from 3pm, check out 11am.

 Activities:

 Friday - arrival. If needs be, the sewing room will be set up for those who need to finish their attire.

 Bar is open.

There might be a selection of hot meals availanle, if the facilities are back to their full capacity after the Covid break. if not, there are local places to go our or we can do what we did last year and order a pizza...

Dress code: informal evening in kit -  so day, visiting or semi formal dresses. Gents in day outfits , relaxerd county wear etc.

 We will be relaxing in library, playing cards, maybe  someone  would like to deligh us with a song, poem or a reading?  weather permitting, some croquet on the lawn may happen too!  

 Saturday:

 Breakfast , then free time - weather permitting there will be croquet set available to use, walks in the park, etc. Lunch - up to the individuals, there will be an option for a formal private afternoon tea, to be accounced closer to the time.

 3pm- dance workshop

evening - bar opens at 7,  photography, dancing starts at 8

 Buffet  9.00

 finish - midnight!

 Sunday:

 breakfast, check out. 

 There are a few lovely properties to visit in the vicinity ( Wrest park, Hatfield House , etc),  a good option for those whou would want to linger on!

 there may be an option for another nights stay, if the venue has anavailibility - if you are interested let us know and we will enquire about  it.

 Dress code:

 1820-38 please. The focus is on the 30s, but old fashioned, late Regency will also be considered; a high level of historical accuracy is the aim for this event, if in doubt, drop me a line!
