 The book is designed to serve as a help, guidance and instruction to all those who would like to venture into the marvellous world of Victorian dressmaking.   I hope it will be useful to a theatre costumier, TV costume drama technician, fashion student, historical reenactor, a steampunk, a cosplayer or a home sewer with a passion for history. In short – to all people who would like to create a quality fashion garment form the Victorian era.

 The  richly illustrated book covers the patterns, cut and asssembly of a variety of  women's clothing from 1837 to 1902. 

Volume 2 concentrates on the outdoors and sportive attire of the era - but the patterns can also be used for standard day gowns too!

 Please note, this book will not teach you how to sew -  you already need to be able to use a sewing machine, to cut a pattern etc.- you will need some fundamental sewing/fitting patterning experience to make the best use of it.

 !The basic sewing techniques, undergarments etc are covered in volume1: only the techniques not explained in the first book will be shown in detail here!

Outdoor and Sports Attire introduces more movement and function orientated garments, but not at the expense of beautiful techniques and fine detail. It is very helpful to have indications of the complexity level of each pattern and that each type of item is given its historical context with original garments, illustrations and references shown. A further bonus is that Pitcher herself has tested each piece in person in all active pursuits, whether as expert rider, doing archery or bathing in costume.
