A rare occasion to aquire the sumptous gown from the Victorian Dressmaker volume 3 book!
A real showstopper, this gown is based on a fashion plate from 1873 and is ideal as a promenading, afternoon or visiting gown.
Used once for a shoot.
Fabrics: made in over 10 m of purple and lilac silks, with yellow silk twill and sporting a handmade embroidery on the sashes.
* A fitted bodice in silk, lined throughout with glazed cotton.
Decorated with silk roleaux trim and binding as well as a frill in lilac silk.
Historically correct inside finish, the seam allowances are pinked and handstitched, the armholes are bound with matching cotton tape
The bodice is bones with original Victorian antiwue bodice stays, and sports a waist tape as well.
The neck is decorated with a pleated cotton lace, mounted on a tape and then attached to the bodice - easy to take off for washing.
Metal buttons close the bodice in front.
* The skirts -
a silk skirt with elaborate structure - alternating stripes in folds in front, alternatig ruffles mounted with a train at the back .
The hem is protected by a wide cotton twill facing and a cotton lace balayeuse - the ruffle is bound and stitched to the skirt, easy to remove for washing.
The skirt is lined with glazed cotton throughout.
A 3 section overskirt in silks, lined with glazed cotton, with a decorative ruffle, and bustled back.
The main feature of the bustled back is the 2 sashes with hand embroidered crocuses and fringes.
That sash can be removed and the outfit can be sold without it so save on the price.
A matching percher soft hat made by Farthingale HIstorical hats is included.
To achieve the typical silhouette, a crinolette or a bustle cage plus petticoatts as well as a corset need to be worn.
