Late Victorian suit

 This mid/late 1890s skirt and jacket set are a perfect combination for an autumnal/spring walk or promenade - but the colours would look just as well in a seaside setting, on a boat - or against the snow!

 Has been worn once for a shoot - the hem got a bit wet, the price is discounted to reflect that.

 Features:

 * A very rare silk moire (watered) fabric in deep blue -  very expensive nowadays, I got it chepaer as the fabric has a  slight mark (hidden in the skirt folds) 

* jacket lined throughout in silk faille . The upper part of the gigot sleeves are interlined with stiff organdy to keep the shape.

* the jacket is decorated with rare antique trim, hand applied, and can be worn open, or closed - there are 3 hooks and bars fastenings in front.

* the skirt is cut to a mid 1890s  'Ripple' skirt pattern, very full but adapted so that the pattern of the silk is uninterrupted

* lined throughout in glazed cotton, hem reinforced with a brush fringe.

* antique trim decoration

* a pocket on the right 

*Closes with hooks and bars - these can be moved for a smaller fit or a bit bigger fit. the waist is interlined and boned

*  machine finish inside.

 The blouse, petticoats, hat etc not included. 

 Measurements:

 The jacket is open - would fit a corseted  size 14-16.  closed, the measurewments are as follows:

Back width 14" (36cm)

 chest  42" (107cm)

 waist 34" (86cm)

will look best on a chest measurments 42"- 44", corseted waist 34-37"

skirt : waist currently set at: 33" (784cm)  length, from waistband down) -  40"(101cm)

Here modelled by a  very loosely corseted size 12, 170cm tall ( 5'7") , much too big!
