mid 17th century set

One of my own garments, made several years ago when I used to do more work in that period.

 Worn, but still in a good condition and it would be nice if it found a busines home!

 The bodice was based on the 'unknown velvet bodice from V&A and pattern from Norah Waugh -  which now, years later, I realise was not ideal - the macherones ( short sleeves) were added later on, and therefore for the correct period look, should be removed.

Features:

The bodice

*in wool, with linen lining

*boned linen foundation

* decorated with velvet ribbon edgings

 * brass rings for lacing

* turn back cuffs with handworked eyelets for lacing with a linen tape

* stomacher boned and interlined, in matching  wool and linen

skirt - same wool, unlined

 cartridge pleated to the waistband

* hemmed by hand, velvet ribbon decoration

 measurements

 bodice  is sto be worn with the stomacher  and on its own measures 
 chest 36" (91cm),  slightly raised waist   29" ( 74), the stomacher is 7"  (18)at the top anbd 12" long.

 back width at the shoulder blades 13" (33), 

sleeve length 25" (63cm) including the cuff,  elbow circumderence 12" ( 30cm)

 the bodice would be snug and provide a good support for the chest - therefore with stomacher it woudl be best for a person with natural measurments of chest  39-42", waist 32-35"

 skirt closes with a button, currently set at 31" ( 79cm), length 39" (99cm)

 Please note that the lightered coloured skirt, as well ass all the accessorues ( hat, cap, apron, collar etc are not included.
