Victorian 1860s ball dress

An opportunity to grab this eyecatching gown i made for the next Victorian Dressmaker book!

 The outfit was worn once for the ball  with the ball bodice and then the skirt was worn for a couple of hours next morning, without the lace.

 The price is discpounted to reflect that

 Details: 

 * Lovely silk taffeta in glorious jewel tone

 *The bodice sports an interesting construction mimicking the en russe blouse fashion - pleated neck inserts and sleeve in cotton, whereas the main bodice is in silk.

* split peplum at the back

 * the bodice is flatlined with cotton  and decorated with a velvet trim

 * closes at the back wihg lacing on the silk part nad buttons and loops on the cotton part

 *The bodice is boned, and the inside finish is modern to keep the pricing down.

* The skirt is generous, lined with cotton organdy for volume without weight,

*hem  is decorated with velvet braid and reinfirced with a cotton tape on the inside

 * closes with hook and bars, 2 positions

The skirt is pleated  to the waistband in front and sides and the back is cartrige pleated.

For the ball there was an antique lace overlay attached - this has now been removed, but the  lace drapery IS  INCLUDED, and can be added as needed

 The day bodice and accessories are also not included 

To achieve the typical silhouette a round crinoline cage  petticoats, and corset need to be worn. (most items can be purchased separately in the shop). 

Sizing

bodice closes completely at:

chest:44" (112cm) 

waist: 34"  (86cm).

 underarm to waist side  length- 8.5" (21cm)

skirt : waistband 33.5"  (85cm) - two hooks to regulate the waist,   length - 47" (120cm),
