Dance the night away in Victorian finery!
We are back in Guildhall, Bath, as the Assmebly Rooms are closed for refurbishment.
Please read detailed description before purchasing, and make sure you read the T&C in the confirmation email ( check your spam!)
Please note, the tickets sell out quickly!
There is a limited number of the Early bird tickets :-)
Pass the night away dancing polkas, waltzes and quadrilles; swanning around in ball gowns and tailcoats, chatting and posing for professional photographs.
The dances will be mostly called and explained by our wonderful Dance Master -Georgia Delve, who proved to be a superb asset in the previous 3 years, and the live music will be provided, as before by The Coatsworths.
For those who would like a bit more practice there will be dance workshop earlier in the day (see a separate lising). Although the majority of the dances will be called, there will be a few freestyle waltzes, a polka and a gallop for those who want a bit more of dancing freedom.
No previous dancing experience necessary - though in such a case the workshop is strongly recommended so that you can relax at the ball.
There will be no catering at the venue - you are free to bring your own snacks and drinks for a picnic in the break - and remember to take any rubbish back with you!
Professional digital photos are included in the price - the portraits are taken during the first hour of the ball.

2026 - The theme is The Natural Form Era 1876 – 1882.
Please wear proper undergarments (no bare legs and uncorseted ladies please, this is a ball and not a barn dance!). Historical hairstyles only and natural, historical make up ( or none) please!
If your gown sports a train, make sure it is pinned up, bustled or held up for dancing - health and safety as well as histotical accuracy!
No stilettos shoes (historical floors etc…), small historical heel ok.
No earlier (Regency or generic Georgian) or later dresses, please, no Steampunk and no modern corset dresses, no modern bridalwear etc. If you are unsure if your dress is not suitable, feel free to contact me I am happy to offer advice.
The same goes for men - suitable evening fashions for the late 1870s - early1880s to be worn - not day attire!
Military uniforms for the era (not Regency!!!) are welcome, but please wear only the medals that have been awarded to you... No weapons of any kind to be worn
Please note – if you turn up in wrong attire, you may be refused entry!
Important notice:
Ladies, please remember that long trains are a trip hazard.
If you go for ther train - flaunt it on the entrance, flowing after you, display it fully for the photos, but for the dancing, all the people wearing dresses are required to hold their long trains up, or pin them up or bustle them.
if you dont, you will be asked to leave the dance floor.
It will not only be a historically authentic thing to do (period dancing books do advise that as well, rather a lot!), but it will be much safer both for you, other people, and your dress. You will also enjoy the dancing much more not having to worry constantly about tripping over.... So be fabulous - but safe too...
Just like in the previous years, to revive us after the ball, we will be meeting at Pump Rooms for breakfast on Sunday (booking a table advisable - most of us is booking for around 10am). The food is amazing, the building spectacular and live classical music playing too - a perfect background for a Victorian matinee:-)
In the previous years we would add more activities before or after the ball - picnics, carriage rides, boating trips - I will keep you posted what the plans involve for next year - since these depend on the weather the decision will be made in the week predeeding the event. rthese are informal activities and not organised by us - you can join or organise your own.
All the updates will be posted in the private facebook group/event for ticket holders- the link will be sent out to you on the purchase of the ticket
