Victorian visiting/ day dress

 An elegant bustle style  dress consisting of a voluminous skirt and a polonaise bodice with watteau pleats at the back.

 Suitable for 1870-80s styles, this set was made for the Victorian dressmaker book 3, and was used once at an event - hence the discounted price

 Details:

 * A fitted bodice in silkand linen  stripy fabric, from Sudbury silk mills,   with fashionable Watteau pleats at the back ( georgian revival, very stylish!)

* partially lined with cotton.

* closing with velvet covered  buttons (can be moved out for a smaller fit)

 *edges decorated with a vintage style cotton lace, and a narrow braid

* cuffs, sides etc with small bows

* The skirt is in linen

* flouce with double braid decoration and lace borded

*pocket on one side,

*hem infoirced with grosgrain facing

Undergarments are not inlculded.

 Hat and accessories not included

To achieve the typical silhouette,  a bustle cage plus a flounced petticoat  as well as a corset need to be worn. (all items can be purchased separately in the shop, subject to stock availibility.)

 bodice closes at :

 *chest:43" (109cm)

 *waist: 33"  (84cm).

 *back width across the shoulder blades - 16" (40cm), 

 sleeve length 18" (46cm), biceps 16" (41cm)

 The seams can be either taken in or let out to fine tune the fit

Skirts: skirts' waistbands close with buttons,

two settings, easily regulated: 31-33" (79-84cm).

Front length (waistband to hem) 42" (106cm). 

Bespoke gowns like this one start from £800 labour plus fabric.

Modelled on size 14, good fit and 12 - a bit too big, especially at the waist
