Late Victorian suit

 This mid 1890s skirt and jacket set are a perfect combination for a walk or promenade. Made for the next Victorian book, and showcasing some unique period fetures, this will turn heads everywhere!

 Has been worn briefly twice for a shoot -  the price is discounted to reflect that.

 Features

 * A very rare woven silk moire (watered) fabric in dusty rose/lavender from Jamnes Hare -  very expensive nowadays, I got it chepaer at the sale!

* jacket lined throughout in silk, lapels faced with cotton Cluny lace. The upper part of the gigot sleeves are interlined with stiff organdy to keep the shape.

* the jacket is in an open style and can be closed with a waistband, stitched or pinned to the sides, oir with a waistcoat - pinned to the waistcoat fronts, or worn loose.

 * the cutaway front was based on a fashion plate. with the back sporting a  heavily pleated peplum. the jacket is lightloy boned and sports decorative buttons - silk covered wiht lace.

The waistcoat  front is made in a posh silk/wool damask, with an antique trim. The back is in cotton cambric -  light, breathable and strong.

 it closes with several hooks and bars ( can be moved in or out to adjust the size.

* the skirt is cut to a mid 1890s  voluminous pattern, fully lioned wiht cotton, deeply faced with the same silk - and has 90 boned hoops inserted in between the back pleats to help the skirt stand out - a design based on a 1890s advertisment !

*  the waistband is reinforced and wide, closing with hooks and bars. One pocket

* A little makeshift jabot is included - made with a mix of antique lace, velvet ribbon and cotton lace, it ties at the back

*  machine finish inside.

 The blouse, petticoats, hat etc. are  not included. 

 Measurements:

 The waistcoat: chest 42" (106cm), waist  32"( 82cm). back width 14" (36cm), side length 8" (20cm)

 The jacket is open - would fit a corseted  size 12-16.   the measurements are as follows:

Back width 15" (38cm)

 waist, edge to edge without the waistband, 28" (71cm) - the waistband is 10" and can be pinned  as needed, allowing for total waist from 30-35"

skirt : waist currently set at: 30" (76cm)  length, from waistband down) -  40"(101cm)

 The outfit  will look best on a chest measurments 38"- 42", corseted waist 30-34"
