antique mid Victorian bodice

Another antique I acquired for study for the next book- this time an earlier Victorian ball bodice, probably 1840s - and it is a real stunner!

Perfect to study and to tak a pattern from! 

* note - all out antique garments were offered, at one time or another to a museum or two, and were refused as not good/ interesting enough for diaplay - ot lack of storage :-(

Features:

* made in silk lampass, 18th cenbtury pattern, with a wide silk gimp decoration on the bodice and sleeve,

* cotton lining for the body, sleeves unlined

* sports front shoulder hollow/sweat padding as well as subtle padding ath the back shoulder to support the smooth bodice line

 * amazing handstitching, piping on edges and sleeve seams, lots of very interesting construction detail

 * remanants of an early waist stay

* tiny eyelets  for the hooks - sadly some on the antique hoioiks have been replaced by modern ones  in too big a size!  need size 1, not 3 ...

* shatterning underarms., but reperable.

*boned.

Perfect to study and to take a pattern from!

Measurements:

the waist is 23”, chest 32.
