A rare occasion to aquire this showstopping gown from the Victorian Dressmaker volume 3 book!

  A real vanilla and blackcurrant delicacy, this gown is based on the extant garment currently housed on the Met, and can be used  or as a generic afternoon or visiting gown - or a ball gown for a more mature lady.

 Used once for a photoshoot and once for a short video, price is now discounted!

 Details:

* the set, bodice, skirt and overskirt, are made in ivory silk faille (13m went into it...)  with lilac silk velvet accents

 * A fitted bodice in silk faille, lined throughout with cotton 

*The bodice is boned with original Victorian antique bodice stays, and the inside finish is by machine

 * the neck is decorated wiuth a a complex set of trtim, velvet ribbon and velvet and faille dagging - same decoration is on the 3/4 sleeves

* The bodice closes with silk velvet covered buttons, buttonholes are made by hand.

* back peplum wioht a big bow

The skirt  is trained, designed to be worn over a crinolette ( the one used here is also available from sale) and 2 petticoats

* the skirt sports a deep decoration with silk velvet and faille, and silk ribbon, as well as a deep ruffle decorated with a smaller ruffle with a velvet ribbon edging. most of these were sewn by hand

*  the hem is protected by a deep layayeyse - a cambric and cotton lace ruffle, mounted on a band and stitched to the skirt all the way round. once dirty, it can be taken off, washed and reattached.

 The overskirt is lined as well and sports the same lavish decoration as well as side loops. The bustle portion is interlind with stiff organdy to provide more oomph.

 A new bespoke  gown in this style would start from £3200 plus fabircs.

chest:43.5 (111cm)

 waist: 34"  ( 87cm).

 side length, armpit to waist. 9.5" (24cm)

 back width across the shoulder blades - 15.5" (40cm), back length ( nape to waist ) 15" ( 38cm)

 skirt length in front - 43" ( 110cm), waistband close at 30" (77cm)  with hooks and bars, these can be moved in

Would best suit a tall, curvy, corseted UK size 14. please measure yourself carefully over your corset and skirt supports!
