An antique Victorian coat

A rare find!
An authentic Victorian coat - this style appeared in the 1860 and was worn for several decades, with details changing. This one is probably 70-80s, looking at the finish- but I may be wrong!
The black superfine wool is stunning and in very good condition- the body lining and sleeve lining are good too/ the skirts and cuffs lining- the silk is shattering and will need a replacement- not a difficult job.
2 pockets in the vent and one breast, braid finish on the lapels and cuffs.
Interlined with single canvas piece.

I bought it for study and to take pattern from, but it really deserves to be given another chance at proper life.

Would fit a slender chap- chest max 44” (112cm), waist 34”(86,
Cm) ( though can be worn open

Back width at the shoulder blades- 15”(38cm), back length 18”(46cm)

Sleeve length 24”(61cm), biceps 15.5” (39cm), cuff 11” (27cm)
