Georgian Robe Volante

 A rare occcasion to purchase  this spectacular robe volante!

 A Robe volante, with skirts closed in front, were popular in the mid Gerigian period - they were sumptous, worn over huge panniers, but loosely fitted - the front opening could be stitched up higer ot left lower, the pleats in front were also adaptable.

 This partucular one is based on the extant exaple from Scotland

  It needs to be worn over georgian style stays and wide panniers -  if you need panniers, please select the option, they can be added on! 

  The gown was used for a photoshoot once.

  Features:

 *  made in breathtaking silk damask from Susbury Silk mills - lots of it! very expensive, very rare

 * bodice lined with linne, big cuffs lined with silk

 * made with machine ( long seams) for but with a lot of handstitching  on the pleats etc.

* closes with internal lacing  at the back,  and the front is worn oven over the stomacher  ( stomacher not included! )

 The petticoat is made out of plain silk - this does not show much, it prtovided a layer to conceal the hoops of the panniers

* The skirt closes with ties  -  tying the back first and then the front, with the knocks going over the side to avoid bulk in front, easy to adapt to most sizes

 The panniers, if required are made in striped linen.

 The hat, stays, chemise, stomacher and other accessories  are not included

Measurements - generaly it will fit sizes 12-16 as easy to regulate the back width with ties and front can be made bigger or smaller by adjusting the pleats.

 The petticoat waist is easily regulated with ties. lentgh - front  45" ( 114cm) - easy to shorten if a wallking length is required.

 The robe currently closes at the waist  32" (82cm), 

 The back, across the shoulder blades is 13" (33cm), biceps circumference 14.5" (36cm)
