Victorian gown with day and evening bodice

 A striking Second Bustle style dress  with a day and evening bodice- perfect for a  day outing, promanade, walking or ball, dinner or a soiree!

 Suitable for 1885-87s styles, inspired by a period fashion plate, this set was made for the Victorian Dressmaker book 2 and 3.

 it has been worn a couple of time - the sleeves of the bodice are getting too tight for me ( and will need restitching smaller at some point probably - see the pictures) - the reason for the sale, otherwise I would be keeping it, it is a great set!

 Details:

* made in light, excellent quality silk satin in dark green,  with silk damask and silk taffeta contrast panels

 * A fitted, complex cut day bodice closing at the front with buttons and the overlap closes hooks and bars  ( can be repositioned for a smaller/bigger size)

 * decorated with stunning woven silk ribbon from Papillionaceus

* inside finsihed by hand, with a waist stay and boning

*  Evening bodice in matching fabrics and decorations, with short sleeves

* finish by machine and hand stitching

 * eyelets for lacing at the back handstittched; there is a makeshifty modestyl panel in black silk to go under the lacing

* boned

* The skirt is a complex affair with inserts and facings, as seen - all silks, lined wiht cotton.

 drapery in silk dating, decorated with the same ribbons, lined with silk taffeta

Undergarments not inlculded, the hat rom the Farthingale HIstorical Hats is included!

To achieve the typical silhouette, a flounced petticoat  as well as a corset  and a bustle cage ( the bigger, second style one! )need to be worn (all items can be purchased separately in the shop, subject to stock availibility.)

 day bodice closes at :

 *chest:40" (102cm)

 *waist: 29"  (74cm).

* back width, across the shoulder blades 16"(41cm)

 * sleeve - wrist - 8" (20cm), biceps 12" (31cm)

 Evening bodice: 

chest:40" (102cm)

 *waist: 30"  (76cm)

 skirt - skirts' waistbands close with hooks and bars, space to move them around,

 waist 30" (76cm), front length 40" (102cm)  - has been tucked a bit into the waistband, can be realeased for another inch if needs be
