This type of corset is essential in creating the curvy silhouette, typical of the Victorian era. It creates the small waist/rounded hip profile, and forms the basis for all kinds of Victorian attire across the social strata. All our bodices are cut to fit the silhouette created by a corseted body.
Unlike our Bare Basic corsetry line, this model is a step up - exterior channels were a popular, fully authentic construction technique-and it also sports more boning that the Basic range - the channels are double boned.
Features:
* made in quality corsetry cotton broche coutil
* exterior channels in the same fabric, on a different grain
* strong stainless steel spoon busk
*boning channels boned with flat and spiral steel bones
*back lacing eyelets with washers
* waist tape
* edges bound in cotton bias tape
* laced with a cotton lace
* Cluny lace decoration
* bones flossed with a silk thread
Measurements - the corset closes at:
bust - 38.5" (98cm)
Waist - 30" (68cm)
hip - 41" (104cm)
side length ( armpit edge to waist) 7" (16cm)
front length 15" (38cm)
Would best suit a size 14, with a natural waist of 33-35", chest 40-43", hip 43-45" .
here show on a size 12, too big!
All our Victorian corsets have the standard 2 inches waist reduction built in – the reduction will vary from person to person depending on the lady’s built and body type. Please measure carefully – your actual waist measurement should be at least 3 inches more than the waist measurement of the corset.
The corset doesn't need to close - a gap at the back is perfectly normal, allowing a greater range of sizes to be worn.
The hip should not be too tight - best measure yours when sitting. A corset with a hip fitting very snuggly when standing, can be uncomfortable to sit in!
If you are at a loss as to what to look out for when shopping for corsets and how to check if they fit once you have bought one, this guide will help!
If you are interested with a corset with more or less reduction, please contact us asking for a bespoke order – more information on ordering in the Bespoke section
