Victorian 1840s dress

 A rare occasion to aquire the dress from the Victorian Dressmaker volume 3 book!

 This is an interesting example of a cotton dress, based on the  1847 gown from  the METmuseum.

 This dress can  be used as a day gown or an evening one -  the lower part of the sleeve is detachable  ( buttons up)

 It was used once, for  a photoshooot - hem might be a bit dusty! the price reflects that

 Details:

 *  rare printed cotton,with the pattern  perfect for the era,  bodice lined in glazed cotton.

 *The bodice sports an interesting pattern with a yoke section and a gathered one in front, with the armscytes, yoke and neck piped,

* short sleeves with a double row of piped ruffles

* Inside finish -  hand finish, with a silk thread

 *The skirts are cartridge pleated by hand and attached to the bodice.

 The bodice closes with hooks and eyes at ther back. the hooks are mounted on a tape, so it is easy to move them  in or ourt as neeeds be. eyelets can be moved too for a smaller fit.

 at the moment the hooks are set a little bit inside as the bodice is a bit too big for me. they can be moved further in pr a bit out for a more generous fit

 Accessories not included.

To achieve the typical silhouette several petticoats,including a corded one, and  corset  need to be worn. (most items can be purchased separately in the shop) 

 Sizing

 bodice  ( at the biggest hooks setting)closes at :

chest:42" (106cm)

 waist: 32"  ( 81cm).

 armpit to waist - 8.5" (21cm)

Skirts:  Front length ( waistband to hem) 42" (107cm) - very deep hem, can be let out - or shortened easily
