Victorian 1840s evening dress

 A rare occasion to aquire the dress from the Victorian Dressmaker volume 3 book!

 This is an interesting example of a silk evening dress dress, based on the a fashion plate from the 1840s

 It was used once, for for a ball -hence discounted price!

 Details:

 *  quality silk taffeta ( 8 metres went into it),  bodice lined in cotton.

 *The bodice sports a front pleated bertha,  decorative sleeves with beribboned puffs and a vintage lace at the neck

* Inside finish -  machine, and hand, seams boned 

 *skirts and bodice decorated with a lot of vintage swiss ribbon bows , 

 *The  two tier skirts are pleated to a tape  and attached to the bodice.- easy to remove in case a remodel is needed.

* the main, long skirt is lined with stiff cotton organdy - very light, but provided a lot of volume!

 *The shorter skirt features puffs with bows - both  sleeves and skirts puffs can be removed for an alternative look

 The bodice closes with hooks and eyelets at ther back. The hooks  are mounted on a tape so can be moved easily for a different fit

 Chest pads can be added  as extra, please ask.

To achieve the typical silhouette several petticoats,including a corded one, and  corset  need to be worn. (most items can be purchased separately in the shop) 

 Sizing

 bodice  ( at the current hooks setting) closes at :

chest: 38" (97cm)

 waist: 32"  ( 81cm).

 armpit to waist - 7" (17cm)

Skirts:  Front length ( waistband to hem) 41" (105cm)
