Victorian 1838 evening dress

 A rare occasion to aquire the dress from the Victorian Dressmaker volume 3 book!

 This is an interesting example of a silk evening dress dress, based on the a fashion plate from the 1838 - suitable for both the Romantic era as well as early Victorian looks

 It was used once, for for a ball -hence discounted price!

 Details:

 *  stunning silk sating on cotton backing in deep, luscious red (7 metres went into it),  bodice lined in cotton.

 *The bodice sports decorative brettelles with  Cluny lace ( in total over £100 worth of Cluny lace was used),  unusual, crazy sleeves  with corded ruffles and lace,  and a vintage lace at the neck.

* Inside finish -  machine, and hand, seams boned, waist and neck piped

 *The  skirts are cartirdge pleated  and attached to the bodice. The hem is decorated with a Cluny lace flounce

 The bodice closes with hooks and eyelets at ther back. The hooks  are mounted on a tape so can be moved easily for a smaller fit.

Chest pads can be added  as extra, please ask.

To achieve the typical silhouette several petticoats,including a corded one, and  corset  need to be worn. (most items can be purchased separately in the shop) 

 Sizing

 bodice  ( at the current hooks setting) closes at :

chest: 48" (122cm)

 waist: 38"  ( 96cm).

 armpit to waist - 7.5" (18.5cm)

Skirts:  Front length ( waistband to hem) 44" (112cm)
