Victorian 1840s dress

 A rare occasion to aquire the dress from the Victorian Dressmaker volume 3 book!

 This is an interesting example of a cotton dress, based on the 1841 fashion plate, made in a vibrant silk ( about 8m of silk went into it!)

 It was used twice, - hem might be a bit dusty! The price reflects that

 Details:

 *  rare striped silk ,with the pattern perfect for the era,  bodice lined in cotton.

 *The bodice sports a gathered one in front - with a hidden front opening, 

*neck piped is piped and decorated with a cotton lace ruffle

* sleeves are roomy in the lower section and wsport a complex decoration in the upper arm - pleating, ruffles etc.

* Inside finish -  hand finish, 

 *The skirts are  fully lined in cotton,  pleated and attached to the bodice.

* skirts are decorated with several rows of bias silk ruffles

 *The bodice closes with hooks and handworked bars-  it is easy to move them/make new ones  in for a smaller fit.  the skirt's closure is offcet 9 dog'd leg closure) to side front and utilises hooks and eyes.

* silk sash in green ties on top

 Accessories  (hat, gloves, collar etc.) not included.

To achieve the typical silhouette several petticoats, including a corded one, and  corset  need to be worn. (most items can be purchased separately in the shop) 

 Sizing

 bodice  closes at :

chest:40" (102cm)

 waist: 29"  ( 74cm).

 armpit to waist - 9.5" (23cm)

Skirts:  Front length ( waistband to hem) 42" (107cm) -
