Victorian 1840s ball dress

 A rare occasion to aquire the dress from the Victorian Dressmaker volume 3 book!

 This is an interpretation of the extant 1842 gown currenty housed in the MET

 It was used once for a ball last year, but too big now!

 Details:

 *  rare silk, stiff hand, perfect for the era ,

 *The bodice and skirt  sport  front insertions - hand gathered silk organza with cross cross braiding front. braiding alsoused on the sleeves.

*the bodice sports decorative low bretelles,  hugging the shoulders and descending to the pointed waist

*  bodice lined with glazed cotton

* Inside finish -  at the moment the seams were left raw, with minimal bonung. if  you woudl like to have them finished by hand, please send me a message, additional £40 will apply.

 *The skirts are cartridge pleated on a tape and attached  to the bodice

 *The bodice closes with hooks and handworked bars-  it is easy to move them/make new ones  in for a smaller  (or bigger) fit. 

 Accessories  (headdresss, gloves, etc.) not included.

To achieve the typical silhouette several petticoats, including a corded one, and  corset  need to be worn. (most items can be purchased separately in the shop) 

 Sizing

 bodice  closes at :

chest:41" (104cm)

 waist: 30"  ( 76cm).

 armpit to waist - 9" (21cm)

Skirts:  Front length ( waistband to hem) 43" (109cm) -
