Victorian 1840s dress

 A rare occasion to acquire the dress from the Victorian Dressmaker volume 2 book!

 This is an lavish example of a day dress, based on an extant garment

 It was used twice, - hem might be a bit dusty! The price reflects that

 Details:

 *  rare striped silk ,with the pattern perfect for the era,  bodice lined in cotton.

 *The bodice sports a pleated fan front - and is decorated with long bretelles with pleated trim ( with piped edges) the bretelles are joined at thou shoulder with a silk cord with tassels - all handmade.

 * all finish by hand

* sleeves woth double piped cuffs, close fitting, closing with hooks and  handstitched bars

 * double piped waistline

* mancherons with fringe and braid decoration 

 *The skirts are  fully lined in glazed cotton,  cartridge pleated and attached to the bodice on a internal tape for strength.

*hem boud with silk,

 *The bodice closes with hooks ( on a tape) and eyelets-  it is easy to move them/make new ones  in for a smaller fit.  

*  bespoke, handmade decorative buttons at the back - silk wrapped and with a 2 colour silk net on top, by Gina Silkworks

 Accessories  (hat, gloves, collar etc.) not included.

To achieve the typical silhouette several petticoats, including a corded one, and  corset  need to be worn. (most items can be purchased separately in the shop) 

 Sizing

 bodice  closes at :

chest:40" (102cm)

 waist: 28"  ( 74cm).

 armpit to waist - 8" (21cm)

Skirts:  Front length ( waistband to hem) 42" (107cm) -
