Mid Victorian corded corset 30"

This type of corset is essential in creating the curvy silhouette, typical of the Victorian era. It  provides the bust support, creates the small waist/rounded hip profile, and forms the basis for all kinds of Victorian attire across the social strata.

All our bodices are cut to fit the silhouette created by a corseted body.

 This corset is made based on an extant example and this style, either 2 coloured or not, with more or less corsding/ boning was poplar  from the 70s throughout the 90s ( the Pretty Housemaid corset belongs to the same category for example). the popularity was mostly due to the fact that they were sturdy, pretty and very comfortable!

 It  has been used once for a photoshoot,  so the price is discounted!

* made in quality specialist corsetry cotton coutil = white for the base, and black and brown for the outside

* corded throughout the hip

* corded front bust panels with  machine embroidery

* exterior channels in strong coutil

* strong stainless steel  spoon busk, 

* boning channels boned with flat and spiral steel bones

* back lacing eyelets with washers

* edges bound in coutil

* laced with a strong cord

* top edge decorated with a vintage cotton lace

 *flossed throughout with a silk thread

Measurements - the corset closes at:

bust - 41" (105cm)

Waist - 30" (77cm)

hip - 41" (105cm)

side length ( armpit edge to waist) 7.5" (19cm)

Would best suit a  busty size 14, with a natural waist of 34-37", chest 42-45", hip 41-44" .

 Here shown on size 12, a tad too big!

All our Victorian corsets have the standard 2 inches waist reduction built in – the reduction will vary from person to person depending on the lady’s built and body type. Please measure carefully – your actual waist measurement should be at least 3 inches more than the waist measurement of the corset.

 The corset doesn't need to close - a gap at the back is perfectly  normal, allowing a greater range of sizes to be worn.

 The hip should not be too tight - best measure  yours when sitting. A corset with a hip fitting very snuggly when standing, can be uncomfortable to sit in!
